Forge a memory.

We live in an era in which information is a commodity, "stories" take place for 5 seconds on a screen, and disconnection seems like an inevitable consequence of modern life.

Even fitness.

Especially fitness.

Let's flip the script on that narrative.

Here, you will forge memories, find connection, and maybe make a few friends.

You'll expand your pilates practice, yes. You'll also learn more about your mind as much as your muscles. Maybe you'll use the time to find a space to dream.

You'll also get some seriously great exercise before your next round of tacos.

Sure, you'll sweat a little. It's worth it.

Welcome to pilates.

Welcome! Glad you've stopped by.

Hi, I'm Olivia!

I'm totally passionate about pilates.

It changed my life so there's at least a shot that it might help yours, too.

That's why I'm pursuing my Pilates Mat Instructor and Pilates Comprehensive Instructor training through Balanced Body, and teaching these classes while still in the status of "student" as I put in my teaching hours.

Among other benefits, you'll experience:

  • Improved Core Strength
  • Increased Spinal Mobility
  • Trunk Integration
  • Balanced Whole Body Movement
  • Increased Mental Clarity

Frequently Asked Questions

How often is your class?

Every Saturday at 8 AM for as long as the sunny weather lasts.

What should I bring?

Bring your own mathand towel, and water.

A word on mats:
In general, the thicker your mat, the more deeply you'll be able to maximize the pilates repertoire.

1/2-1" mats, or layered yoga mats to reach that depth, are typically considered ideal. This is especially important if you have any back issues. That said, many find that a single yoga mat can do the job just fine.

Don't skip the hand towel! The hand towel is useful for helping the body safely hold poses it may not be accustomed to.

Water: This is Texas. Bring a bottle. A water fountain is nearby if you need to refill.

Where can I find the Brackenridge Park Calendar of Events?

The Brackenridge Park Conservancy calendar can be found here.

Is it really free?

Yes, really and truly! This is just one volunteer's addition to the incredible park programming hosted by the Brackenridge Park Conservancy.

You can find out more about the Conservancy's incredible work here.

Are there toilets nearby?

Yes! The class is steps away from a building with toilets and water fountains.

Where do I park?

Near the Joske Pavilion at Brackenridge Park (531 Brackenridge Way, San Antonio, TX 78209.).

I recommend entering the park off Hildebrand. The best parking spots are past the beautiful iron bridge.

If there's one thing I've learned from pilates, it's that showing up is the hardest part . . . take the leap, and there's no telling how far you'll go.

About

Olivia Webb is a San Antonio-based student pilates instructor pursuing her pilates certification through Balanced Body.

She also happens to hold degrees from New York University (BA) and Harvard (ALM), but don't hold that against her. Nothing lights her fire like clambering off the beaten path . . . and prodding others to do the same.
